MapBiomas is a collaborative network that produces annual land cover and land use maps for Brazil and Latin America using satellite imagery (Landsat and Sentinel-2). The platform offers open-access data and monitoring tools covering deforestation, fire scars, water bodies, soil carbon, mining, urban expansion, and vegetation regeneration, with historical records dating back to 1985. Built on Google Earth Engine, it supports environmental policy, research, and conservation efforts across Brazilian biomes including the Amazon, Cerrado, Atlantic Forest, Caatinga, Pampa, and Pantanal.
